The Prepper14 Magnator – The innovative solution for optimal antenna performance
With its robust stainless steel plate and six neodymium magnets, the handcrafted Prepper14 Magnator provides an almost fixed connection and exceptional HF coupling – perfect for demanding antennas and a wide range of radio applications.

Perfect HF coupling, maximum performance
Prepper14 Magnator – The revolution in antenna mounting
Many who see the Prepper14 Magnator for the first time react with amusement. Phrases like “Are you planning to drive 400 km/h?” or “You could lift your car with that thing!” are just two examples. Sounds funny – but technically, it’s complete nonsense.
The advantage of the Prepper14 Magnator is simple: it comes very, very close to a fixed installation!
The large stainless steel plate with its six powerful neodymium magnets is galvanically connected. This combination – paired with the large 2 mm thick surface and the magnets positioned as close as possible to the car roof – results in extremely high capacitive coupling to the vehicle from an RF perspective. That’s why the Prepper14 Magnator is not only ideal for large antennas like the Kick-Ass Predator or other antennas that require a large ground plane, but also interesting for amateur radio use.
The Prepper14 Magnator provides strong HF coupling, even enabling the operation of suitable antennas on longwave HF bands like 80 meters. Especially on 80 meters, typical smaller or even triple magnet mounts quickly reach their limits.
The Prepper14 Magnator is handmade. Of course, its size comes with one issue: the roof surface should be as flat as possible. Curved car roofs can make it difficult for the magnets to sit evenly. On a VW van, SUV, or station wagon, there are usually no problems.

Small but powerful
The new Prepper14 Mini-Magnator
It’s here: The Prepper14 Mini-Magnator – a four-magnet base – has made its debut in the radio world. After several setbacks, the smallest possible four-magnet mount has been created, yet it still offers a major advantage over standard and even triple magnet bases.
With its 2 mm thick stainless steel plate and four neodymium magnets, all galvanically connected and positioned as close as possible to the vehicle roof, the Mini-Magnator provides strong capacitive coupling from an RF perspective. This coupling allows the use of large antennas in CB radio that require a solid ground! A Kick-Ass Predator, Lemm Vortex PL, and similar antennas are no problem and deliver excellent SWR.
The Prepper14 Mini-Magnator is designed to be not much larger than a typical triple magnet base – but offers significantly better coupling to the vehicle.
Like its big brother, the Mini-Magnator is also handmade in Germany!

Report on the Mini Magnator by Mike Romeo (Markus)
Hello radio friends,
Today I’d like to share a short experience report about the Mini Magnator with you.
I personally drive a VW Caddy. And as some of you might know, this vehicle has a roof with indentations – not ideal for a magnet mount. That’s when Uwe (Prepper14) pointed out that he had a Mini Magnet Mount. We discussed some details, and I decided to get one.
And what can I say? I was impressed right away. Thanks to its dimensions, it fit my roof immediately – right in the center. The feel and build quality are really excellent.
What I really like is that you can connect your own PL cable and aren’t limited to the usual 4–5 meters. This means you can mount the base wherever you need it. The magnets used are strong enough that the thing won’t just fall off the roof. I won’t give any specific speed ratings.
I was able to tune several antennas that gave me serious trouble with other magnet mounts – including a mobile whip by Moonraker, the Ampro 80. This whip is for the 80-meter amateur band and needs much more ground than a typical 11 m (CB) antenna. But I still managed to tune it to an SWR of under 1:1.5 – a great result.
I’ve also tested several other antennas for 11 meters, and all were adjustable without issue.
That’s it from me. I hope this gave you a small insight.
With that, 73 to all of you – and stay healthy!
Yours, Mike Romeo (Markus)

Report on the Mini Magnator by KiloCharlie20 (Martin)
Hello radio friends,
Here is my experience report on the Mini Magnator:
I personally drive a Skoda station wagon, which normally isn’t a problem for a magnet mount. However, for mountain operating, I like to use our Citroën Jumper. Since its roof is very uneven, I needed something suitable – a fixed installation wasn’t an option for me.
The Mini Magnator fits perfectly on the surface intended for a roof hatch on the Citroën and keeps enough distance so the roof doesn’t get damaged. I was especially thrilled by the option to use my own PL cable, since I prefer H-155 cable.
I mainly use two antennas – the President Missouri for short-range communication, as it’s only about 70 cm long, and on the mountain usually the Sirio Performer 5000, which stands nearly 2 meters tall. The Mini Magnator seemed to be the perfect solution for my setup. Even at speeds of 150 km/h, it held strong and showed no signs of weakness despite the large antenna.
Both antennas could be tuned to a good SWR without any issues.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the Mini Magnator and am happy to share my experience with you.
With that said – 55 + 73 to all of you!
Yours, KiloCharlie20 (Martin)
